When I cast my ballot yesterday morning, I had hopes Democrats would take the House, and maybe get a seat or two in the Senate, but even my wildest, most optimistic expectations didn't prepare me for the Blue Wave that crashed over the United States of America as the day went on.
I hope the Democrats who will soon be in power doesn't mistakenly view this victory as an overall endorsement of their political party when it is in fact a repudiation of everything Trump has inflicted upon this country since he re-entered office in January 2025. That means their main job is to work on reversing that damage, hold Trump's flunkies accountable, and—most importantly—focus on their services to their constituents.
I will say this, it was refreshing to enjoy watching election results come in for once without reacting to every AP call as another brick in a an ever-building existential crisis threatening to bury our republic.
