Living in the time of Quaranteen (Idles).

Ryan Allen can usually be found fronting the aggro-pop outfit Extra Arms, but the guy is a punk rock kid at heart. So as we all social distance, self-isolate, or self-quarantine, he decided to apply the restless energy and anxiety of the situation into a hardcore concept album about living in these strange times. And in 8 minutes and 6 songs he does a remarkable job of capturing the current moment.

So now we have the debut No Disturbance EP from his one-man band side project The Quaranteen Idles. I love the group's name's nod to his spiritual forebears Ian MacKaye, and while the music certainly borrows from the '80s D.C. punk scene, Ryan can't help his pop inclinations, adding a little form form to the fury.*

So "Flatten The Curve/Stay The Fuck Home" and enjoy the No Disturbance EP.

*I'm also shocked at how good this sounds, since according to Ryan's liner notes:
All songs written in about an hour and half by Ryan Allen.
All instruments by Ryan Allen.
Poorly recorded in a couple hours with two mics using Garageband by Ryan Allen.
Poorly mixed by Ryan Allen.
Mastered by some computer program using AI, because it is the future.
The future! There's something I'm looking forward to happening once this is all over...
