I didn't expect this, but I can actually listen to the latest Manic Street Preachers disc all the way through without getting sick of the overproduction and schmaltzy audio decoration.The first single, featuring Nina Persson of The Cardigans, is "Your Love Alone Is Not Enough" and it is particularly catchy. Usually something with such obviously swooping strings would send me running for cover, but I think it works here.
Plus, Persson's voice is one of those things that makes you forgive almost any misstep a song can make.
It's still not a great album by any means, especially when you consider this is the same band that created The Holy Bible, but it definitely marks an uptick in the band's output compared to their more recent work.
